Feed Balancing

The basic forages we feed to modern horses are not the feeds that their wild cousins ate. In particular they lack a whole host of vitamins and minerals that are present in natural wild pastures and at low levels in many typical horse paddocks, hay and haylage.

Traditionally we have relied on concentrate feeds to top up these nutrients but more and more people are finding value in supplementing these further with slightly more sophisticated 'Feed Balancers'. Most feed balancers are still pellets and so contain starch - which is less than ideal. Our supplements are more concentrated (you may only need 20 grams a day) and are sugar/starch free. As many people are cutting out concentrates in favour of high fibre diets the need for our supplementation is becoming even greater. They are also cheaper as we are not diluting them with pellet materials that cost money (and carbon) to ship around the country.

We are so convinced of the importance of this 'foundation supplementation' that we provide comprehensive feed balancing in a number of our products and from all three of our product ranges. So we give you a whole range of different price and application options. Please note these products are all powdered supplements. There are no starch based components in them to upset your horse's digestive system or promote laminitis:

Essential Daily Care - Our primary feed balancer - not just vitamins but sophisticated chelated minerals, limiting amino acids and essential oils. Use Essential Daily Care and there is no need for a hoof supplement. Sugar free formulation makes it perfect for laminitis prone horses.

Hoof Essentials - The extra hoof supplementation from Foot Perfect combined with Essential Daily Care for really difficult hooves. Frankly most horses will not need this supplement if they get Essential Daily Care.

Mobility Essentials - combining Essential Daily Care with the ingredients from Easy Mover for comprehensive joint and soft tissue supplementation.

Sensible Essentials - combining Cool, Calm and Collected with Essential Daily Care Care for behaviour support and comprehensive supplementation.

Mare Essentials - combining Balanced Mare plus Cool, Calm and Collected with Essential Daily Care for behaviour support, hormonal balance and comprehensive supplementation.

Digestive Essentials - Comprehensive bacterial and live yeast probiotics and herbal prebiotics from Digestive Essentials plus broad spectrum supplementation from Essential Daily Care.

Hypo Allergenic Essentials - FightBack's immune system and intolerance support combined with Essential Daily Care. Perfect for everything from Sweet Itch and fly bites to mud fever, skin allergies and hay fever.

WINNINGEDGE Silver - Comprehensive supplement for young competition horses and those doing less stressful work like dressage.

WINNINGEDGE Gold - Comprehensive supplement for older competition horses and those doing more strenuous work like show jumping, eventing carriage driving and endurance.
