Eventing - Theodor Wahren

Theodor has grown up in a family with no
horse heritage, however his mum got him into riding at the age of 6.
Early on Theodor was caught by the charm of eventing and
over the years has been on the Swedish squad as a Pony
Junior as well as Young Rider with his best achievement being a silver
medal at the Nordic Baltic Championships. He is currently a reserve in
the Senior squad.
Anneli (Theodor's mother) owns two horses, The Trakhener Mare True Love and the Swedish Warmblod Gelding EX2000 -
"True Love was not mounted until she was five. I got her when she was seven and she had only done a few cross country rounds at low level. I knew she was a long term project with a big potential that it would pay off if given the time she needs to develop. She was extremely nervous girl when I got her. Over time she has gradually developed to become a sensitive lady.
Lately with the help of Cool,Calm & Collected she has developed to be more relaxed whilst still being very keen and listening to my smallest signals. She always does her best to do exactly what I ask of her. If I am unclear in what I ask, she goes for safety first.- clever little lady! Cross country is not a problem for her, it's for me to be a pilot with clear signals. In training she can do around 80% in dressage and easily jump 140-145 cm but taking that to the competition arena is the big challenge.
With Cool, Calm & Collected, she has been to competitions lately with surroundings which previously would have made her tight like a violin string, but now she can stay relaxed when she meets other horses, if the wind is howling or the flags blare. We are now gearing up for her 3* debut later this season.
EX2000 is the kind of horse that checks things out, he wants to know exactly what things are and when he is satisfied he usually lets it go, but not always. He has competed in dressage up to Prix St Georges and at competitions after dressage he is usually top five whilst even if it cannot be seen, he gets tense every now and then and the last few per cent that would put him at the top is lost. When he is on the cross country course he can just look for the fences and keep going, nothing seems to bother him.
EX2000 did his debut at CIC*** at the World Cup qualifier in Malmö 2010 with a 17th place followed by a third place at Segersjö CNC3*. This year's first CIC3* he was 2nd after dressage, then had a few tense moments in the show jumping, spoiling the day, and then finished off with a nice and easy clear round in the cross country. With Cool Calm & Collected I experienced that he is getting fewer and fewer tense moments which hopefully will help him to become established in the top ranks.
Best regards
